Wolfond possesses a special affinity to the colour red. In his essay Chomophilia rich and pauseless in the paintings of Pedie Wolfond, Gary Michael Dault states “Red, and especially the reds that Wolfond sluices and veils onto her big, absorbing canvases, [burn] with an optical intensity from which there can be little escape, an intensity that cannot be softened, subdued, avoided or deferred. Wolfond’s reds seem as inevitable and omni-present as a sunset.”
